Cpntainer and Specialist Haulage Across the South East.
Perfect and Sons provides container and specialist haulage across the South East, serving Kent, Surrey, Sussex and adjoining London and Essex freight areas. Our West Thurrock base is positioned for London Gateway, Tilbury and Purfleet, while the M25, M2, M20, A2 and A21 provide practical access to Kent and the southern counties.
The South East contains several different types of port. London Gateway handles deep-sea containers, Tilbury and London Thamesport support short-sea and container services, Purfleet is important for RoRo freight, and Dover connects high-frequency ferry traffic with France. Felixstowe remains relevant where the ocean service brings Asian cargo through the east coast.
Port-to-South East Road Transport
We plan around congestion-sensitive roads, timed warehouse slots, urban restrictions and constrained industrial sites. A movement into Dartford or Medway has a different operating profile from a delivery near Crawley, Brighton or the Kent coast, so the postcode, cargo and unloading method are reviewed before the vehicle is allocated.
South East customers include freight forwarders, importers, exporters, construction contractors, manufacturers and storage operators. Work can range from a standard 20ft or 40ft box to a side-loader placement, reefer, flat-rack, hazardous consignment or project load.

DP World London Gateway Container Haulage
For South East movements, London Gateway is close to D. Perfect and Sons’ West Thurrock operating centre and gives access to deep-sea, reefer and international container traffic through the Thames.
Relevant facilities: DP World London Gateway deep-sea container terminal.
International routes and example ports (check the live carrier schedule):
- Current Asia–Europe carrier networks connect through ports including Shanghai, Yantian, Qingdao, Ningbo, Tanjung Pelepas and Singapore.
- Americas services include trade lanes involving Caucedo, Cartagena, Manzanillo, Buenaventura, Callao and San Antonio.
- Other networks connect the terminal with Southern Africa, India, the Middle East and Oceania, subject to the carrier’s live rotation.
Tilbury and London Container Terminal haulage
For South East movements, Tilbury handles short-sea and deep-sea cargo on the Thames and is particularly useful for European, Baltic, Iberian and North African flows. The release paperwork determines the exact terminal and collection procedure.
Relevant facilities: London Container Terminal at the Port of Tilbury, together with relevant Tilbury and Tilbury2 facilities.
International routes and example ports (check the live carrier schedule):
- Published trade coverage includes Portugal and Spain, Baltic ports, Norway and North Africa.
- Examples shown on Forth Ports routing material include Klaipeda, Helsingborg, Cadiz, Casablanca and Tangier.
- The relevant operator and current sailing schedule should be confirmed because short-sea services and frequencies change.
London Thamesport Short-Sea Container Haulage
For South East movements, London Thamesport supports short-sea container traffic for Kent, London and the South East. It can be a practical collection point for cargo moving through Northern Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic.
Relevant facilities: London Thamesport on the Isle of Grain.
International routes and example ports (check the live carrier schedule):
- A2B-online operates services between London Thamesport and Moerdijk in the Netherlands.
- Viasea’s network links through Rotterdam and the Norwegian ports of Oslo, Moss and Kristiansand.
- The same network provides onward connections into the Baltic region and Poland, subject to the current schedule.
Purfleet and Dover Short-Sea Freight Links
For South East movements, Not every port movement is a lift-on/lift-off deep-sea container. Purfleet and Dover are important for accompanied and unaccompanied RoRo freight, tank containers, trailers and other unitised cargo moving between Britain and mainland Europe.
Relevant facilities: Purfleet Freight Terminal and the Port of Dover’s Eastern Docks and cargo facilities.
International routes and example ports (check the live carrier schedule):
- Purfleet is part of CLdN’s long-established network through Zeebrugge, with wider connections across its North Sea system.
- Dover’s ferry routes link with Calais and Dunkerque for high-frequency freight access to France and onward European markets.
- Dover’s Western Docks cargo facilities can also handle reefer containers, breakbulk and general cargo vessels.
Felixstowe Container Haulage
For South East movements, Felixstowe is a principal east-coast deep-sea gateway. Collections and returns must be booked to the correct terminal, with the shipping-line release, container status and cut-off confirmed before dispatch.
Relevant facilities: Trinity Terminal and Landguard Container Terminal.
International routes and example ports (check the live carrier schedule):
- Asia–North Europe networks include services involving Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Qingdao and Xiamen in China.
- South-East Asian hubs on relevant networks include Singapore and Tanjung Pelepas, with services also linking ports such as Laem Chabang.
- Port rotations vary by carrier and sailing; the live vessel schedule should always be checked before presenting any route as direct.

Standard Containers, Specialist Trailers and Regulated Cargo
The service is not limited to standard dock-to-door boxes. Our container transport service can be planned for 20ft, 40ft, high-cube, reefer and other ISO equipment, subject to weight, release, trailer and site requirements. Where a customer site has no loading bay or lifting equipment, side-loader container delivery may allow a suitable container to be placed on the ground. Surface strength, side clearance, overhead obstructions and container weight must be checked first.
Flat-racks, machinery, plant and other heavy or out-of-gauge cargo may require a low-loader or an STGO CAT 1 and out-of-gauge movement. STGO means the Special Types General Order. Route assessment, axle loading, dimensions, bridge restrictions, notifications, escorts and site access are considered for each abnormal indivisible load. These movements can be planned to or from ports and locations anywhere in the UK.
- Perfect and Sons also provides ADR hazardous and Section 5 transport for suitable consignments. This includes controlled work involving dangerous goods and, where the classification and authority requirements are met, Class 1 explosives, arms-related cargo and other Section 5 movements. Nationwide movements are subject to acceptance of the exact UN classification, quantity, packaging, documentation, security plan, vehicle specification and route.
This capability is relevant to construction, food and drink, retail, aviation supply, manufacturing, events, defence-related supply chains and port-centric warehousing across South East, while remaining available for movements to and from anywhere in the UK.
Why Choose D. Perfect and Sons?
D. Perfect and Sons has been family-run since 1987. The company uses its own vehicles, trailers and drivers and does not subcontract its haulage work. That gives customers a direct line to the people controlling the movement and keeps responsibility for planning, equipment and communication in one operation.
The modern Volvo fleet is supported by more than 40 trailers and in-house workshop, inspection and brake-testing facilities at the secure West Thurrock depot. Long-serving drivers, CCTV-controlled premises and experience with ports, ADR, Section 5, side-loaders and abnormal loads support the practical, accountable service described throughout the existing website.
- Own fleet, trailers and drivers, with no subcontracted road movements

- Direct knowledge of UK container ports, ferry terminals and industrial delivery sites

Do you cover all of South East?
Yes. The named towns are examples rather than a boundary. Send the full collection and delivery postcodes so the traffic team can check access, distance, route and equipment.

Yes, where the load, trailer and operating conditions fit D. Perfect and Sons’ capability. Dimensions, weight, drawings, lifting method, notifications, route and delivery access must be assessed before acceptance.
Can you move hazardous cargo or explosives nationwide?
D. Perfect and Sons handles suitable ADR cargo and is Section 5 authorised for controlled work. Every job is reviewed against the exact classification, quantity, packaging, documentation, security and vehicle requirements before confirmation.
Can a container be placed on the ground?
A side-loader can ground a suitable container where there is a firm, level surface with enough side and overhead clearance. The container weight and site layout must be checked before the movement is booked.
